Movimento Danza – Organismo di Promozione Nazionale presents the first edition of “CAM CAM / Dance for Camera“, videodance call for under 35 artists.
The call aims at exploring and analyzing the videodance world, with videodance defined as the connexion between dance, audiovisual and body language and how this 3 areas cross and relate thanks to new technologies, tech supports, genres and innovative formats experimentation. Videodance does not mean the choreographic reproduction for camera but dance created expressely for the video.

Who can participate

The participation is free.

Dancers, choreographers and videomakers, between 18 and 35 years old, can participate without limitations of nationality or residency.

One can participate with videodance works that have not yet been released or released between January 2019 and April 30, 2021. Former or later works will not be accepted.

Projects can be of max 3 minutes lenght.

Videos can be produced with whatever support is more effective (smartphone, camera, other) as long as the quality of the resolution (video and audio) is high.

The video must be shoot in horizontal.

One can only submit one participation with one video.

Authors guarantee to shoot and produce the video in respects of current anticovid rules and regulations and under their own responsibility.

Documents needed and deadline

To participate to the selection, one need to submit the following documents:

link to project on Vimeo o Youtube (open or private);
project description (max 2.000 characters spaces included);
curriculum vitae of all artists involved, with possible links to other published works (max 800 characters spaces included);
2 photos related to the project, one horizontal and one vertical;
information form filled and consent form for the work distribution.

All must be sent via email to promozione@movimentodanza.org not after 4 pm of May 19, 2021.

All applications will receive a confirmation email. If not, please call +39 0815780542, Mondays to Fridays between 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

The sent material is not going to be given back and may be used for promotional aims.

Selection process

Fase 1: preliminary check
Promotional office of Movimento Danza will verify the respect of deadline, participation requirements and the correct delivery of all documents and materials requested. If something is incomplete or missing, the participant will automatically be excluded.

Fase 2: finalists selection
Between all correct and complete applications, the Artistic Direction of Movimento Danza and Jury President, Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino, Journalist and Dance Historian, will select 7 finalists.
Finalists will be informed via email and names will be published on Movimento Danza website (www.movimentodanza.org) and on Campadidanza Dance Magazine (www.campadidanza.it).

Fase 3: winners selection
The 7 finalist videos will be evaluated by 2 Juries; a Blue Jury and a Green Jury, independent one from the other but with same evaluation criteria and both chaired by President Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino.

Juries and selection criteria

The 2 Juries, Blue and Green, have been identified in order to connect different fields of live performance and culture. Each Jury can identify its own winner.

BLUE JURY is composed by the President and 4 members with specific knowledge in dance and videodance:

1. Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino – Journalist and dance historian – Jury President;
2. Enrico Coffetti – President of Cro.me – Cronaca e Memoria dello Spettacolo;
3. Angela Fumarola – Artistic Director of Armunia/Festival Inequilibrio;
4. Marilena Riccio – Founder of Coreografo Elettronico;
5. Ariella Vidach – Choreographer and Artistic Director of Ariella Vidach Aiep.

GREEN JURY is composed by the President and 4 under 35 members with professions in the cultural and live performance field outside the field of dance:

1. Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino – Journalist and dance historian – Jury President;
2. Marco Chiappetta – Directorand screenwriter;
3. Antonio Raia – Composer;
4. Laura Ottieri – Drammaturg and videomaker;
5. Emilia Zamuner – Singer.

The 2 Juries are independent and don’t interact in order to offer an autonomous evalutation.

The evaluation takes place following the same evaluation scale.
Each member will give 1 to 10 points on each of the following criteria:

1. Originality and creativity of the work (1 to 10 points);
2. Skills in video and new tecnologies language, consistency with choreographic concept (1 to 10 points);
3. Direction quality (1 to 10 points);
4. Dancers interpretation (1 to 10 points).

Prizes and proclamation

The final results will be published on Movimento Danza website (www.movimentodanza.org) and on Campadidanza Dance Magazine (www.campadidanza.it).

2 winners will be identified, one for the Blue Jury and one for the Green Jury.
Wins those who have the highest number of points.
Each of the 2 winners will receive a prize of € 750,00.
If the 2 Juries identify the same winner, this one will receive a prize of € 1.500,00.

The winners nomination will take place live on web Friday 18 June 2021 at 6 pm, with Gabriella Stazio – Artistic Director of Movimento Danza, Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino, President of Jury and the members of Jury.

The winners will have to send an email to formally state they are accept ing the prize.

Promotion and distribution

The finalist projects will be promoted as follow:

– dedicated Press Office;
works and artists presentation on Movimento Danza website (www.movimentodanza.org) and on Campadidanza Dance Magazine (www.campadidanza.it);
posts on social media of Movimento Danza and Campadidanza Dance Magazine;
programming in events organized by Movimento Danza and in activities and formats created and organized by Movimento Danza;
distribution on Italian and international digital platforms, dedicated to dance and videodance;
interviews and publishing of materials.
