From 14 July 2023 auditions begin for the Performing LAB, an innovative Stage Training Course for young dance graduates.

The Course, one of the first of its kind in Italy, has been organised since 2004 by Movimento Danza, a historic dance centre based in Naples as well as a National Dance Promotion Body.

The Performing LAB provides a customised study plan with a minimum of 8 lessons per week and a maximum of 12, with resident teachers and guest teachers of international standing.

Access to the Course is reserved to students of contemporary dance with a high level of preparation and with an age from 18 years, completed on 31 July 2023.

Each member of the Performing LAB becomes a member of the Performing Arts Group, the Movimento Danza Youth Company. The Performing Arts Group boasts numerous notable participations in festivals and television programmes, as well as several prizes and awards, including participation in the Procida – Capital of Culture 2022 programme.

You can perform in real Shows, with a real Audience

With the Performing Arts Group you will perform in various shows organised in Campania and other regions of Italy, in theatres, in art venues, and as part of site-specific events.
In the 2022/2023 season, for instance, the Company performed on no less than 10 different stages and participated in historical festivals such as ‘Second Hand – Di Seconda Mano’ and ‘Maggio dei Monumenti’.

You can participate in Projects and Call

By attending the Course, you will be able to participate in the many calls for proposals and projects involving Movimento Danza.
For the Performing LAB 2023/2024, participation in the creative residency project “Dancing Together, Again!”, co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the “Creative Europe” programme, has so far been confirmed.
The project includes Movimento Danza as an international partner of the National Institute of Music and Dance in Warsaw (Poland) and will also take place in Italy, in Naples, in March 2024.

Guest Teachers: new Ideas from the World

From Italy to France, from India to Great Britain, the guest teachers of Performing LAB 2023/2024 will bring very different experiences from various geographical and cultural areas for an unmissable journey into creativity and self-discovery.

He studied in Angers at the conservatoire in 1995, then at the National Centre for Contemporary Dance school in 2000. He produced les mains moites, a homage to Samuel Beckett, to launch a professional career with his own collective group.
As a performer, she has been part of international companies such as Raimund Hoghe, Joëlle Bouvier, Carolyn Carlson and Euan Burnet Smith, JoJi Inc Cy, Isabella Soupart, Robyn Orlin…
Join Les Ballets C de la B with Primero by Lisi Estaras. He met Alain Platel with C(H)OEURS, and continued with Tauberbach, Nicht schlafen and C(h)oeurs 22. He started with Christoph Marthaler with Univers Incomplete, and continued with Orphée et Euridice.
Parallel to his career as a performer, he has always felt the need for personal work: Je connais des gens qui sont morts with Kurt D’Haeseleer, Une catastrophe fantastique I and II in Kopergietery, Je suis un palimpseste et ce n’est pas un animal for Passerelle et Alstublieft, Night Butterfly with Platform-K, Solo Voilà for Passerelle et Alstublieft, butterfly with Platform-K, solo voor Daniëlle with Gentbougement, Another sacre with Alain Platel for Artesis. ..
He presented his solo Une île for Amok Festival in October 2021. He starred as an actor in Communauté, a play by Jonathan Châtel, in January 2022.
With his interest in cinema, he acts in short and long films such as Words and Red Room by Isabella Soupart, Un homme à la mer by Géraldine Doignon, The scream a video installation by Philippe Grandrieux.
He directs with Philippe Piffet Au suivant !, a moovie dance short, and is part of Why we fight by Alain Platel and Mirjam Devriendt.
For the next season, he will start his new show Like the full moon says, a duo with Ivan Fatjo, and will assist Alain Platel in his new opera Ombra in 2024.

Luna Cenere is a dancer, choreographer and performer of Neapolitan origin.
In 2009, she graduated in contemporary dance at the Movimento Danza National Promotion Body in Naples and immediately took part in numerous projects in the area.
She then graduated from the SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance).
In 2014 she moved to Belgium and continued her training through international festivals, including Festival Deltebre Danza, Impulstanz, La Biennale di Venezia (Biennale College 2015).
She participates in Anton Lacky’s creations (Anton Lacky Company) and works with Simone Forti (2014); then joins Compagnia Virgilio Sieni for La Mer and Il Cantico dei Cantici (2015).
In 2017 she was selected as an AEROWAVES TWENTY18 artist and then won the “Best Choreography Award” of the Solocoreografico Festival and Award with Kokoro, a show produced by Compagnia Körper with the support of Compagnia Virgilio Sieni, Marosi Dans Fest and the former Asilo Filangieri in Naples and selected for the NID Platform 2019.
It follows: in 2018 Twin, premiered at the FOG/Triennale Festival in Milan and selected by the ANTICORPI XL network; Pneumatika (work in progress), which debuted at Teatri Associati in Naples, at the Festival “La Democrazia del Corpo” in Florence and at the NAOcrea Festival in Milan; in 2019 Natural Gravitation – a tribute to Isadora Duncan, a commission and production by the Ravello Festival and Compagnia Körper; in 2021 Zoé, a production by Compagnia Körper and Festival Oriente Occidente, a show selected for NID Platform 2020; in 2022 Shoes On, a production by Compagnia Körper.
She is supported by the Residence XL action for the year 2019 and is an associate artist of the Körper Choreographic Centre and the Oriente Occidente Festival for the biennium 2019/2020.
She receives the Premio Speciale Positano Léonide Massine to the dancers of the year (2019) and wins the Premio Danza&Danza 2020 as “emerging choreographer” with the show Genealogy_Time Specific. She worked on Mario Martone’s film Capri Revolution (2017) under the choreographic direction of Raffaella Giordano; she choreographed the show Ferito a morte, directed by Roberto Andò (2022). His next creation Vanishing Place will debut at the Venice Biennale 2023.

Silvia Gribaudi is an Italian choreographer active in the performing arts.
Since 2004 she has focused her artistic research on the social impact of the body, placing comedy and the relationship between spectator and performer at the centre of the choreographic language.
Young Author Dance Award with “A CORPO LIBERO”(2009), UBU Award finalist as best dance performance and Critical Network Award finalist with R.OSA (2017), CollaborAction#4 Award 2018-2019, Critical Network Award finalist 2019, DANZA&DANZA Award 2019 as best Italian production with GRACES and Hystrio Award Corpo a Corpo 2021.

He has participated in artistic research projects such as:
CHOREOROAM (2011), TRIPTYCH (2013), ACT YOUR AGE (2014) European project on active ageing through the art of dance, from which the performance WHAT AGE ARE YOU ACTING? and the territorial project OVER 60; PERFORMING GENDER (2015); CORPO LINKS CLUSTER (2019/2020) in which the relationship between dance, mountains and the mountain community gave rise to the site-specific project TREKKING COREOGRAPHIC and the performance MONJOUR (2021) produced by Torinodanza Festival in collaboration with Teatro Stabile del Veneto and Les Halles de Schaerbeek – Brussels.

In 2021 she is guest choreographer for “Danser Encore, 30 solos pour 30 danseurs” a project for the Opéra de Lyon while in June 2023 she will debut the new production WHERE DOES A BALLET END? co-produced by MM Contemporary Dance Company (IT), La Biennale de Lyon (FR), Théâtre de la Ville (FR), Torinodanza Festival (IT), International Dance Festival TANEC PRAHA (CZ), Zodiak – Side Step Festival (FIN) and by the international network Big Pulse Dance Alliance.
Her performances are present in numerous national and international festivals and are realised in creative processes at the centre of which is the dialogue and poetic encounter with other artists, companies and communities.

Narendra Patil is an Indian performer, teacher and choreographer. He is a movement specialist in IndYog-Contemporary, Martial Arts, Improvisation and Flying Low. He is co-founder and artistic director of Sanskar Global Platform for Performing Arts, India.
Narendra graduated from the Terence Lewis Dance Foundation Scholarship Trust in India.
He was the principal performer, teacher and assistant choreographer of the Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company for 10 years in Mumbai.
He studied Okinawan martial arts and completed yoga teacher training at ‘The Yoga Institute’ in India, the oldest organised yoga centre in the world.
Narendra is the first Indian contemporary dancer to have studied with David Zambrano in a 30-day intensive EXIN workshop on Flying Low and Passing Through technique in Berlin, Madrid and Corfu.
He participated in David Zambrano’s ’60 days intensive improvisation workshop’ at the TicTac Art Centre in Brussels.
His training experience with martial arts and contemporary dance masters in India and Europe inspired him to create and develop his own dance vocabulary called IndYog-Contemporary.
Narendra currently works as an independent artist in India and abroad.

“The language of dance is to express feelings and emotions while performing. Through my dance, I can connect to my inner self and experience life to the fullest. This has come about through life experience, years of training, practice and observation of my teaching and performances.”

Davide Valrosso, choreographer, dancer, performer, artist and trainer, founded NINA in 2021 of which he is the artistic director and coordinator of the project ‘INCUBATORE for future choreographers’, both supported by the MIBAC.
For two years he was both Associate Artist of the Oriente Occidente Festival and Resident Choreographer of the Balletto di Roma.
Among the many choreographers he has worked with, particular importance should be given to the figure of Virgilio with whom he collaborates, both as a dancer and as a performer and trainer within the Accademia sull’Arte del Gesto in Florence.
As an author he is selected at the Vetrina anticorpi in 2016, a year later he participates in the NID Platform, and is selected in projects such as: Prove D’autore XL, ResDance XL, Resid’And (national academy).
In 2018 he creates “Biography of a Body”, produced by Kilowatt/Capotrave, as part of the European project BeSpectACTive.
In 2019 he is signalled as a Pugliese emerging artist, among his producers he can boast collaborations including: Anghiari Hug, Tir, Körper, Festival Oriente Occidente, Teatro Comunale di Vicenza.
As an author, he has worked with the Attakkalari Company Bangalore – India and the Polish Dance Theatre, Poland.
He currently collaborates with La Sapienza University of Rome in SARAS and the University of Pisa in the “Disciplines of Performance and Communication” department.
His latest creation Love|Paradisi artificiali, winner of the Cross Award, debuted at the MilanOltre Festival last September 2020 (production C.I.M.D., with the support of MiBACT and SIAE in the framework of the programme “Per Chi Crea”, co-production Compagnia Körper, with the support of ADH – Anghiari Dance Hub, a.ArtistiAssociati, Lis Lab/Cross Project, Centro Residenze per la Toscana Armunia, Next – Laboratorio di idee per la produzione e distribuzione dello spettacolo dal vivo lombardo (a project of the Lombardy Region in collaboration with Fondazione Cariplo).
With his works he has participated in numerous festivals and exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad (such as in Spain, Romania, Croatia, India and Korea).

Curriculum Vitae and biography of maximum 12 lines;
– Link to a video with a short improvisation of a maximum duration of 1 minute.

The video must be full-length and in good resolution.
It must also not include any dancers other than the applicant.

The material must be submitted by 12 July 2023, 8.30 pm.

Successful candidates will be contacted for the audition, which will take place from 14 July.

The audition is free of charge.

Any travel and accommodation costs will be borne by the candidate.
