At sunrise on Sunday, April 28, 6 a.m., “Napoli Silent Dance / Zitti Zitti” will take place at Rotonda Diaz in Naples, a performance-event that opens the celebration of the International Day of Dance, established by UNESCO in 1982 for April 29 each year.

Naples Silent Dance involves choreographers, dancers and audience in an unpredictable silent dance on the Naples waterfront, listening to music played or selected in real time through headphones.

Organized and funded by the City of Naples as part of the “Naples City of Music” project, the unmissable happening is conceived and directed by Gabriella Stazio, an award-winning choreographer with her Compagnia Movimento Danza, and will feature more than 20 choreographers and performers from the Italian contemporary dance scene.
Music and DJ set by Francesco Giangrande, sound engineer Alessandro Messina.

With this absolute premiere, Gabriella Stazio once again returns to propose the anthropological sense of dance in which performers, spectators and choreographers are always the same person. And the person can be anyone.

The event is free and open to all.
Only requirement: to be of legal age.

Reservations are required.

To book, you must send an e-mail to promozione@movimentodanza.org and info@movimentodanza.org

“This is a site-specific event inspired by the Silent Party phenomenon, which began a few years ago and has been declined over time in various ways,” explains Gabriella Stazio. “The proposed concept is that of a performance somewhere between the silent dance and the silent concert: one dances together with dancers and choreographers, listening in headphones to music played in real time by musicians. Placing the performance-event in urban contexts allows an unconventional enjoyment of art and cities, without creating any disturbance to other people and with full respect for structures and works. Everything is strictly free and zero impact. In fact, the event makes no use of lights as it will take place waiting for dawn with natural light, and music will be played only through headphones to limit the acoustic impact.”

Movimento Danza, accredited by the Ministry of Culture as a “National Dance Promotion Body,” was the first to introduce the UNESCO International Dance Day celebrations in Italy since 2002. Under the title “Giornata Mondiale della Danza”, in more than 20 editions of the event, the Movimento Danza center has organized more than 700 classes for about 14,500 participants from all over Italy, 92 public meetings, 120 performances and contests, and 18 exhibitions, art installations and video dance screenings.
