NU.DA. Live! | Contemporary Choreographic Experiences is a project that aims to internationalize the careers of young Italian choreographers under 35.
Conceived and developed by Movimento Danza with the artistic direction of Gabriella Stazio, the project is a winner of Boarding Pass Plus 2022 – 2023 – 2024, a call of the Italian Ministry of Culture that promotes the dialogue and exchange of artistic practices between professionals from Italy and other Countries.
In addition to Movimento Danza, NU.DA. Live! involves two other cultural bodies in Italy and three cultural bodies in Croatia and Georgia, two territories with highly dynamic and growing contemporary dance cultures and experiences.
The Italian partners of Movimento Danza (the project’s lead partner) are AlphaZTL Compagnia d’Arte Dinamica, directed by Vito Alfarano, and gruppo nanou, a contemporary dance and performing arts company.
International partners are Arts Research Institute and Georgian Regional Theaters Network for Georgia, Transitional-fictional Theater for Croatia.
During 2023 a number of Italian choreographers under 35 will be selected to carry out a work period between Croatia and Georgia. With the support of senior choreographers from the project partners and a cultural operator, the young artists will tell about themselves and their works through videos, talks, panel discussions and workshops in order to create and strengthen professional relationships with local institutions, cultural operators and artists.
All activities will be broadcasted and available online in order to maximize their visibility and sharing among cultural operators and dance enthusiasts.
All partners will participate in a final meeting to be held in Naples, through which the conclusions of the project will be collected and then disseminated, laying the groundwork for new paths and new cooperation.
Movimento Danza was the lead partner in the project “A Different Past, A Common Future,” which won the Culture 2000 Program together with Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal, the Laban Centre in London, Ballet Victor Ullate in Madrid, Onnagatarea Company in Brussels and Mediascena Europa in Rome. It also recently won the “Creative Europe ’20-’22” call for proposals with the project “Dancing Together Again”. With NU.DA. Live!, Movimento Danza further expands its international collaborative network, concretely fostering the mobility of artists and cultural workers, the interaction between generations and cultures, and the promotion of Italian contemporary dance.

The independent Transitional-fictional theater group TRAFIK, directed by Branko Valenta and Elda Capan, has been operating continuously since 1998. It is one of the first non-institutional theater groups in Rijeka composed of professional artists and one of the first independent theater groups in Croatia, as the entire Croatian independent cultural scene, as we know it today, was still at the beginnings. One of the important settings of the group is the collective collaboration of artists from different fields and artistic backgrounds: playwrights, directors, actors, dancers, visual artists, set designers, and lighting designers.
